Rebecca Nøstrud Grimstad

is currently studying at the Norwegian Academy of Music. She has performed as a soloist with major orchestras such as the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and appeared at festivals across Europe and the US.


About

Rebecca Nøstrud Grimstad (b. 2003) is one of the most promising young violinist in Norway, and is rapidly establishing herself as a soloist and chamber musician on both national and international stages. She has performed with leading Norwegian orchestras, including the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK), the Oslo Symphony Orchestra, and the Vestfold Symphony Orchestra, and has been featured multiple times on national television and radio.In 2024, she was a finalist in NRK’s soloist competition Virtuos, performing Sibelius Violin Concerto with KORK live on national TV. In early 2025, she appeared as soloist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra at the prestigious Young Performers’ Concert (De Unges Konsert) in Grieghallen, where she was awarded a talent scholarship from the Grieg Foundation.Rebecca has performed extensively across Norway and the United States, and has also appeared as a chamber musician in Hungary, Spain, and Bulgaria, among others. She has participated in festivals such as Kaposfest (Hungary), Nordland Music Festival (Norway), Varna Summer Festival (Bulgaria), and Round Top Music Festival (USA), collaborating with renowned artists including Lars Anders Tomter, István Várdai, Arve Tellefsen, Eldbjørg Hemsing, and Ragnhild Hemsing.

Her talent has been recognized with numerous prizes, including Arve Tellefsen’s Talent Prize, Drømmestipendet, and top awards at both the Norwegian Youth Music Competition (UMM) and the Midgard Competition. In 2025, she and violist Andreas Grimstad won “Best Chamber Music Group” in UMM with their performance of Händel/Halvorsen's Passacaglia.Rebecca began studying the violin at age 8 with Tone Stokland, and entered the Talent Program at the Norwegian Academy of Music at 12. She later studied with Terje Moe Hansen and Bjarne Magnus Jensen, and has worked in masterclasses with artists such as Vilde Frang, Kirill Troussov, Henning Kraggerud, Detlef Hahn, and Arve Tellefsen.She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Violin Performance at the Norwegian Academy of Music, studying under Kolbjørn Holthe. Rebecca performs on a Paul Crowley violin (2015), generously on loan from the foundation Dextra Musica.
